Information for consumers
Training providers can update and review their details on the My Skills website, the national VET directory, so that information is available to consumers.
training.gov.au – Australia’s national register of VET– provides information on training packages, qualifications, accredited courses, units of competency, skill sets and registered training organisations.
The Group Training Register is a searchable by state and territory list of all group training organisations which have complied with national standards and are eligible to use the group training national logo.
The Australian Qualifications Framework is the national policy for regulated qualifications in the Australian education and training system. It incorporates the quality assured qualifications from each education and training sector into a single comprehensive national qualifications framework.
The Australian Skills Quality Authority is the national VET regulator responsible for the regulation of registered training organisations and monitoring their compliance with national VET standards.
Victoria and Western Australia continue to regulate registered training organisations which deliver training to domestic students only in those states. The VET regulators in those states are the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and the Training and Accreditation Council Western Australia.
National standards are used by VET regulators to protect the interests of all students undertaking vocational education and training in Australia. The standards guide nationally consistent, high-quality training and assessment services in the VET system.

National reporting of VET activity involves the collection of data on all nationally recognised training activity by registered training organisations RTOs and reporting this to the National VET Provider Collection.

The Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students lists all Australian education providers that offer courses to people studying in Australia on student visas and the courses offered.
training.gov.au – is the official national register of information on vocational education and training packages, qualifications, courses, units of competency and registered training organisations.
Training packages are industry-defined sets of competency standards and associated assessment requirements, qualifications, credit arrangements and guidance information that ensure VET training meets the needs of industry, enterprises and individuals.

New Arrangements for Training Product Development
The new model for Training Product Development places industry at the centre of training product development through industry reference committees which will be overseen by the industry-led Australian Industry and Skills Committee. Industry is supported by independent, professional skills service organisations which were established through an open competitive grants process. VETNet is a central storage facility for relevant current and historical materials relating to the national VET sector. Information stored on VETNet includes companion volume implementation guides. The new VETNet site is now available.
Unique Student Identifier
Students need to have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) before a training organsiation can issue a qualification or statement of attainment. A USI will allow an individual's USI account to be linked to the National VET Data Collection. This will enable students to see all of their training results from all providers, including all completed training units and qualifications.
VET in Schools
VET in Schools programmes provide students with opportunities to gain credit towards their Senior Secondary Certificate of Education while at the same time gaining a nationally industry-recognised qualification or credit towards this qualification.
